Need help on mini baja car, includes lots of polaris parts...
#1
Hey guys....I am in a club at college here and I'm looking for some advice....first off we are building a mini baja car(basically a quad but a little taller and a rollcage) We get a lot of parts from polaris(a big sponsor of us) and the guys are thinking of changing our clutch(like that of one on a stock sport) to a "comet" clutch. What is this and is it better?? OK next question is, why do auto quads have gearboxes(similar to a sport)?? are they needed?? They are also talking of changing the rear suspension from one like a pred to......"dual shock swing arm rear suspension" as they put it. Would you reccomend it, would it help??? We are looking for the most power and saving weight, and at the same time keeping decent handling. Thanks guys for all of the help. Brad

The gearbox is for high/low range and reverse. If these aren't needed I would go to a jackshaft setup like a snowmobile. On a light, narrow machine like that I would stay with a single shock, less weight being the biggest reason I can see.

You would spend a lot of time tuning it to your liking. They are mainly best for drag racing from what Ive heard. I would stay with the Polaris clutch. That way you know what springs and weights will do what, rather than trial and error. You may like a TEAM secondary on it though
