Need help on mini baja car, includes lots of polaris parts...

I think we will get one and just test it and see if it changes anything for the good...and if it does, then we'll use it. Yeah we are the engineers, but I know you guys have more experience, so I want to know from you guys..

No feathers ruffled here. Sorry if I can off that way fstrthnu, I didn't mean for it to be taken that way. I was just trying to give the comparison. No hard feelings bro!

I would still like to see the difference on a quad or the buggie these guys are building. There is nothing like a seat-of-your-pants test. That is good BBS I was hoping we wern't going to have to "take it outside"!

I'll call my bud with the 700EFI right now, but after our behavior last weekend his wife will probably be having him serve 15-20

ok guys.....my next question is this....is there anyplace to get a lightweight(most likely chrome moly) swingarms?? How about a arms?? Are the elka shocks good and lightweight?? We are now trying to save weight in any way possible.

Personally, I would go with an independent rear suspension if I could. I have been thinking about building a single seater, as I have a 02' ProX 600 Liberty motor to play with! If not I would go with a double shock linked suspension. The mono shock is to ridged for the rough stuff. When you hit a bump in the rear you won't have as much control as it will throw the asz in the opposite direction.
The Polaris ATV secondaries all have a button setup in which there is more friction between the button and the angle of the helix. The Comet clutch has rollers that come in contact with the helix, meaning less resistance and friction.
Any roller secondary will be better than a button type.
Comparing a stock roller secondary of a Polaris Snowmobile to a Comet roller in the same setup, you will see no advatages, and perhaps less with the Comet, until you dial it in and have a few mods under the hood. That would be when you would see the diference in a SNOWMOBILE.
In my oppinion, you would definatly benifit from a "ROLLER" clutch, stock Polaris/roller or Comet/roller. Would you benifit from a Comet clutch? I guess it would depend on the motor an what modifications you have done to them.
SO, What kinda motor ARE you putting in this?

If you have a sponser like Polaris at your disposal...why not throw the clutching issue at thier techs..? Comet clutches have been around for a long time but they are itches to dial in. I think the people in your group may have heard the name Comet from snowmobile people but I dont think you are using a 440 Kawasaki Intruder sled motor are you?(Comet makes clutches for many different Vintage and newer sleds).
If the engine is a Polaris then out of respect and efficiency you should oblige them in using thier parts...Just my opinion but, maybe some nice job offers may come out of your venture!
The name Polaris on the parts would benifit the project...The automatic is tried and true to the name and the stock clutching is very tunable!
You have some pro racers and very talented power boosters in this forum..(i.e. BUBBA...Rick Ritter) that can give you guys insight as to power and clutching issues...
Think about keeping Polaris parts on if the engine is in fact a polaris...if not...WHO CARES....LMAO.. Just kidding.. GOOD LUCK WITH THE BUGGY.
