Default Chain adjustment on 04 BajaX

I just bought an 04 Baja X used, but in very good shape. The problem is, I didn't get the owners manual with it, and the only other quads I have owned were banshees. The chain is a little loose, but I don't see any adjusters. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure it is that loose, I just happened to notice it sagging a bit and I'm not sure how to adjust it.

Jetsnow600 you have a PM. There's nothing I hate more than getting ripped off.

Default Chain adjustment on 04 BajaX

I dont have my manual hand but if i remember correctly It should have 28 or 24 mm (around 1") play at the centre between the front and back sprockets, with the rider on the bike !!, If you dont load the bike first the chain will run tight and cause damage, mine came from the dealer brand new with the chain to tight , i was lucky and checked before i rode it.

If you look under your right rear fender you might have a info sticker there with the chain adgustment spec on it

Hope this helps

Rob...

If you haven't got it figured out yet here's what you do... this is if I remember Bombs correctly!

-Loosen the bolts at the back of the carrier housing.
-Get in your tool kit, find a small straight rod, stick it through the sprocket and into the bearing carrier.
-turn pull the quad backwards until the chain is snug.... not tight and not loose.
-tighten the pinch bolts at the carrier housing and remove the rod from the sprocket and carrier.

Hope this helps slightly!

The adjustment is 7/8" of play with the rider on the machine. It is real easy if you have somebody that weighs the same. Have them sit on while you adjust. Don't over torque the bolts though.
