shocks for 300ex on mx
#1
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with Works at steelers on the front. I am getting into west tn racing starting january and i though i would need some new front shocks at least. How do the front steelers w/ triple rates and no resoirvors sound? Because i can't really afford anything better right now. I'd appreciate your help.

I have a 400ex, but my best friend has a 97 300ex. He's dumped all sorts of money into it. He bought triple rate Works with reservoirs from Last Rebel Racing. He loved them for a while and then they started to bottom out. He then called works and they said that they don't make a triple rate for the 300ex because of its limited travel. He sent them in to be revalved or something and he primarily rides motocross track. They now kick a$$ and we both love them. I am ordering some for my 400ex soon. P.S. He also ordered the rear shock with reservoir (model below ultracross) and never had a problem with it. They are way better than stock but talk to Works directly. They seem to be very knowledgeable.

I ALSO BOUGHT MY TRIPLE RATED SHOCKS W/ THE RESERVOIRS AT WORKS PERFORMANCE FOR MY TRX250R, AND THEY COST ME ABOUT $500.00. I WEIGHT AT THE TIME 250LBS AND THEY NEVER BOTTOM OUT. I ALSO HOLD THAT THEIR DUAL RATED SHOCKS RETAIL FOR ABOUT $350.00 W/ RESERVOIRS, WHICK SHOULD WORK GREAT FOR YOUR 300EX.

I have been running work shocks on my Full race TRX330R for the last 5 years. They work great and last a very long time. They have steel bodies so they don't fatigue like their aluminium counter parts.
I've had several top GNC pros try out my bike and they all loved the way they worked.
They may not sag like ZPS so you lose a little corner speed but it's 10 times harder to jump with zero preload shocks.
Dollar for dollar you can't go wrong with works.

The reason its harder to jump with ZPS is all in the name Zore Preload.
When you hit a jump with normal shocks they compress and then spring you up in the air. With ZPS they are already compressed about half way down the shock travel. So you have to hit the jump much faster in order to jump as far as normal shocks.
Its harder to explain it than it is to feel it. That's why Pros can fully use this system to there advantage. They already hit the jumps wide open.
Amateur riders will be a little faster in the corners (less tippy) with ZPS but their jumping will slightly suffer.
I guess it all a matter of how fast you think you are. If you can see your self spending that kind of money on shocks to make you .01 seconds faster thru a corner then by all means buy them. But normally if you are that fast then they would be given to you. ie sponsorship
