Default Kodiak 450

I've been reading for a couple of months to decide what to buy and have decided on a Kodiak 450. Now that I've decided, I finally joined. I remembered a post (maybe from Alaska Boy) about a few things to check that dealers seem to miss on assembly. I could use some advice on what those things were. I appreciate any help. 450 coming sometime in the next week.

Bob007,

I was referring to the breather tube to the belt housing. I have seen it on a couple of of them and the 400's so far and heard of a couple of others on here. It seems that it is just something that happens and another guy from Canada talked about lengthing the tube or using a different coupler or something, little fuzzy on exactly what he said. I just put it back on and have no problems since. they also missed putting in the rivets that hold the vent tube that goes ou the rear, just under the rear brake light. Couple of screws in there now and once again no problem. Must of been a Monday(hangover) or a Friday(wanting to start on hangover) bike.

Other then those little problems I have been thrilled with it. My buddy went out and bought one last month and he just loves his too. He was worried about going from a manual to a auto but he is impressed with the gas and go and if you are not quite making the top of the hill just give it more gas.

Have fun with it and just give it a once over to make sure everything is tight and do it again after you have a few miles on it. I took the family out last weekend and backed it off the trailer and could not get it to shift into drive, in fact it was stuck in reverse. Pulled the plastic off and found the bolt that holds the shiftlinkage had backed out and almost lost it. Tightened it back down and was on my way. You see, there is a reason to give it going over after riding it. I had overlooked it and it could of made a good ride into a interesting one.

What color are you looking at? I got the blue one and you can see it in my photos. AlaskaBoy.

One other thing.

Welcome aboard as a official member and not just a visitor. I too lurked on here for awhile and got some insight before buying. AlaskaBoy.

Thanks for the info. I seem to have the memory of a gnat. I have looked at your pic's. Your 450 is nice. I love those rims and tires, may have to wait on those for mine though. I am definitely going with blue. That is the color I wanted so I took my wife and 2 1/2 yr. old son to look at one and they both agreed. Thanks again, Alaska boy!!!

Bob007 there is a place in Chatanooga, TN that sells 450 kodaiks for $5299 brand new off the showroom. Great price and it is out of state so you dont have to pay sales tax.

Congrats on the new machine. I too was deciding on what to but went the other way and got the Suzuki Vinson. I'm sure you're going to have a blast. Stay safe.

syrupdawg,

Is that price for a 4x4 model? If it is, holy cow! The best price up here so far was when I paid 5700 and then added almost a grand of fees and options. Two of my buddies bought them and paid 6200+ fees and options.

Alaska Boy, I purchased mine(blue 450) Saturday. I got it in Huntsville and it was 5399.00. They tack on a 100.00 doc fee(just another 100.00 profit) and tax. I don't live in the city limits of any city so I only have to pay state sales tax(2%). So OTD it was 5607.00. I could have saved maybe 2-300 dollars by driving 2 hours one way but it wasnt worth it to me.

I paid $6000 for my Vinson but then added a 2.5cc winch which cost another $400.
