Ok, with all your help I've decided on the KODIAK.
I want a 2001 model in green. Problem is all dealers in my area (central PA) want MSRP or very close to it. Best price so far is $6546(includes tax and papers) out the door with a WARN2000 winch installed. This seems high to me since the winch PROMO is $69 w/o installation. C'mon guys, help me buy a quad, I'll travel if need be.

How far are you from the canadian border? Canada is by far the cheapest place to buy. The exchange rate is good right now, and in Canada you should not have to pay any tax.

 

I'm thinking about making the 6 hour trip to Canada to buy an 01 Kodiak in blue. Have you bought in Canada before? What happens at the border upon return? Did you have to pay tax in your home state upon return? Anyone know if there's is a dealer near the Vermont border?

I paid 6100 OTD in May which included extras such
as a speedo, hot grips and a 2000 warn winch.

But I 'am still waiting for the speedo to come in. Something about a part to be added to the kits before these speedos are sent out to the dealers. I hear the 01 model has a speedo already. I did add on a brake light switch.

Thanks to all who posted replies. After considering the hassles with driving, titling the machine, etc... I decided to get the best price I could locally and purchase it. Probably better for service and support this way. I got a price of 5945 with a Warn2000 winch installed. I had to pay tax and paperwork fees on top of this but figured that price was reasonable due to demand in this area. Anyways, thanks to all who responded I'll keep in touch with the group and let you know how the new Kodiak run (I gotta break it in first).
