I was cruisin the trails today and found some fallen rcoks i thought no problem, so i switched it from high to low no problem going over the rocks no problem, then put it back to high that is where it got stuck pulling the shift rod harder and harder it would not budge. i turned off the cat and it went to high easy. It still continues to do the same. thing plus when going from low to high,i put it into gear and it sounded like it was trying to put it into gear(Clink,clink,clink) then it would engage. I need advice.

I have the same problem with my 01 cat but the dealer has no answers.

 

You can try turning your idle down a bit. I've heard of problems with low/high range before and I believe it was related to the idle adjustment.

 

yea a lot of atvs do that my 220 and 185 bayou did that

 

Arctic375 is right about the high idle. Also you should be in neutral if you aren't already. My 2001 250 2X4 wouldn't shift without shut down until I back the idle down below spec.

 

my o4 500 makes the same sound when shifting back into high range all I have to do is rock it back and forth a litte after putting it in high and it doesn't do it any more.
