Default My son's first solo rides...

My 3 1/2 year old son has been solo riding his Suzuki LT 50 for almost a week now. He rides in a huge open field and is doing incredibly well (no bias here, ha ha ha). First time out he ran into our girl golden retriever and scared the crap out of her - that resulted in quite the little lecture, but he gets it now. Then on the third day, he went down a slope on the side of the house and hit the foundation wall and flipped over the handle bars - d'oh, why did this happen right in front of mom ON mother's day. He has his boots, elbow pads, chest protector, helmet and goggles for protection, though. I can almost feel my YFZ slipping out of the limelight now that he is so interested and doing so well - hope the interest continues - we're going to go to a pee wee mx track soon to see how he does. Too much fun!!!

My parents were the "thats too dangerous" kinda parents though. Im happy for you, stay safe and have fun.

Yeah, I'm very excited, but he really is too. He is always talking about jumps and saying he needs a motorcycle (he watches our neighbor who races a YZ 250 jump all the time) so I'm thinking he is going to go crazy at the track - we'll see, though. I'm only into this for him as long as he is interested, I'm definitely not one of those parents who is going to make him do something he doesn't want to do. I sure do love his enthusiasm, though.

You are a great father! lol

I wish my dad would have taken me to an mx track when I was 3 and 1/2. I wish I had a quad when I was 3 and 1/2...oh well....Keep him interested and maybe he'll be the next Dana Creech.

Later,
