Default fitting quad in truck solo

i used to have a ford f350 that i could drive my quad(kfx 700) up in it no problem but now i have a mazda b2300 and i cant for the life of me figure out how to go riding solo and load the quad(kfx 700) back in the truck without assistance. the quad fits in nice and snug if i have someone else helping me. i am thinking a truck bed winch but i am lost for ideas. surely this must be a common problem

Sounds like you sold the F350 too soon. I would look into a small trailer to fit the big bike on.

First off welcome to the forum.

I don't know just how tight a fit you have with your quad/pickup combination but I do sometimes haul my Prairie in the bed of my S-10. Just does fit and I had to build some ramps to get over the fenders and a bridge to hold the front end up in the front of the bed. I use ramps and load over the tailgate and do this alone by riding it in which can be a little interesting at times.

I suspect a winch in the bed could make loading a bit easier. I usually haul my quad on a small trailer as it is easier to load and unload and just a lot handier as I can have the canopy on the pickup to haul gear.

how much would a trailer run thats just big enough to fit a quad the size of a kfx 700. my b2300 is only rated to tow 1000 pounds because it has a 98 hp engine. i think a trailer is gonna have to be the way to go. i wonder if you can buy them online or where i would get one in nor california

Harbor Freight has some cheap ones that you can look at online. Be sure to get the biggest wheels available. Better trailer, locally anyway, can be bought at Lowe's for about $550.00. It's a 4' by 6' and will haul about 1900 Lb. IIRC the trailer weighs around 300 Lb. so with the quad you would be under the 1000 Lb. limit you mentioned. The Lowe's trailer also has a ramp built in and 12" wheels.

Probably most any home supply chain store would have what you need.

i found a solution after mulling about all day. i had 2 eye hooks on the on oppisite sides, parrell of the bed, i bought some chain, hooked it across taught and than i used a come a long to hall it in enough so that i can pull it over the wheel wells. its not pretty it takes like 15 minutes to do but hell its a great way to go when your broke. i spent like 30 bucks total and now i can get the quad in.

Sounds like you rigged up a viable solution to the problem. One other thought on trailers, often you can find an old boat trailer that can be easily modified to haul one or two quads. I have one that is specific built to haul my Prairie with the Swisher rough cut mower behind it. The trailer had sat idle for many years but required only repacking the wheel bearings and new tires to make it road worthy. The removal of the roller bunks and addition of a deck was quite simple. One thing to watch for is the axle location. Most boat trailers have the axle located well back and it is easy to end up with a tongue heavy trailer. Simply paying attention to where on the trailer you tie the quad(s) down so you end up with 10% of the trailers weight on the tongue will solve this. Sometimes it is advantageous to shorten the trailer tongue to make towing easier.
