Missing oil in predator,,,anyone eles!!!
#1
I did a oil change a week ago, since then I rode the bike two times. After each ride I noticed that I lost about 8 ounces. I have never lost that much oil.My pred is 6 months old butit has over 200 hours on it. is it normal? i don't think so but, I can understand where it is going.]
The spark plug is Not showing any oil be burned, the plug is light tan, almost new looking.I haven't seen any smoke and i can't find any leaks. WHERE IS IT GOING!! it's notin the air box or anywhere I can see. I must be burning it But, like I said ,,NO Smoke ,good plug and it runs great.
Has any of you gone though oil without knowing where it wenT? Can the PS-1 oil evaporate when it is 80 out side and the motor has been run for a extended aount of time.
The reason why I ask that questin is because In the owers book it said then ps-1 is good for -40`to +125`.
I don't know what to do about the oil lose ,but i think if I have to take the motor apart I'll make the motor crazy sick fast.
Thank you
Matt

I haven't found a leak at that spot ,but thanks ,maybe since i cleand it I just didn't see oil there. so I'll look next time I ride.
I do have over 200 hours on it,it wouldn't be hard for me to believe that it is burning oil.Just I don't see smoke,or have a dirty plug,so, I have No clue.

Here's a little trick I've learned over the years - if you suspect an engine of burning oil, but no tell tale signs of smoke - stick something like a coffee can cupped at the muffler exit - about 4 - 6" from the pipe - if you are burning oil, you will then be able to see the "white" smoke.
Don't ask me how it works, but it does.

Pred's sometimes suffer from oil draining back into the block. Make sure to idle the machine a bit before checking the oil. It might be there....just hiding from you.

Yup Yup Yup, what mod quad said.
Be sure to idle and warm up the quad or ride for a minute or 2 before checking the oil level.........
Many Preddy owners (myself included) have had oil coming out of the crank case breather hose which oils down the inside of the airbox, due to us "overfilling" from this mistaken missing 8 oz of oil.
Lettuce know what you find out after re-inspection of oil level after running it a bit.

Through all of us sharing our experiences, we get to the bottom of things. To go along with what Heap stated, when I first switched to the nifty CFM oil tank, I mistakenly did the over-fill. Sure was foggin' for mosquitos as the oil hit the exhaust. Doh!
