YFZ450 shock rebuilds
#1
I'm looking at buying a YFZ450 sometime next spring and was wondering what companies are doing zero preload kits for the stock shocks. I had a 2001 Raptor that I sold last August that had Elkas on the front and a Quad Shop Mac Daddy SSD kitted rear that I fell in love with. I haven't had a chance to ride a YFZ since I've been over seas for the last 6 months but I'm wondering if the stock shocks are up to par for aggressive trail riding. I know that Derisi racing is offering a kit but I haven't hear how well they work or if you are better off and just buying elkas all around. It there anybody else offering these services?

Yeah, I'm stuck in Korea for the next 6 months so there's really no hurry. I'm just surprised that other companies haven't jumped on the idea, there is a lot of companies that support motorcycle shocks and forks like pro circuit etc. Seems to me that they could make a fortune in this market with the better quality shocks that the manufacturers are putting on quads. I'm sure Suzuki and Kawasaki will use the same style shock on their next sport quads, so the market is there. I would rather shell out $500 to $700 dollars on a rebuilt and modified shocks than $1400 for a set of new shocks, most of us can afford it. Honestly I thought the rear SSD modified shock worked just as good if not better than the Elkas on the front, I bolted it on and never even touched the rebound or compression settings!
