raptor 660 in dirtwheels
#1
did anyone see the test on it in the latest dirtwheels mag (june).Anyways they said a stock raptor with only gearing changes is easily capable of 95mph.Thats pretty dang fast if thats true, but i don't believe it.

it should be capable of more than that in stock gearing. all you need is a really big cliff to push it off of. i estimate that a raptor should have a terminal velocity of about 120 mph during free fall.

y would it not be capable? not enough horsepower?
what are the shift speeds on a raptor
1st: 15
2nd:35
3rd: 55
4th: 70
top speed 80+
those above #'s are not based off of fact or experience, just pulled out of a hat, but does any1 here have a educated guess on what they should be?

stock my raptor hit 67 at 6000 ft so with a gear change at sea level you could get 85-95 without too much trouble, but you will sacrafice alot of bottom end.

I hear a lot of people talking about gearing, and they make it sound like if you keep swaping sprockets to make the ratio higher you will continue to increase the top speed. You can only go so high before your engine will not be capable of pulling those tall gears high in the rpm range.
For example, I had a mustang that would run faster in 4th gear than 5th gear because the 5th gear was so high the engine did not have the power to pull much past 4000 rpm. it would pull 5th gear to like 6200.
