Iowa Harescrambles

Hey guys.....how was the last race on the iowa harescramble circuit?? I believe it was in brooks. I unfortunately missed the last two, first one because of a test a college, and the last one due to a misunderstanding on the day(saturday instead of sunday...duh). How have the races been? What have the tracks been like? What do they consist of? How many quads have been showing up? I am planning on making the next one in Indianola, anyone have any info on this track?? I have a predator 500, what class should I be looking to run in.....or shall I say what classes can I run in......Can I only run in one class per race??? Thanks for all of the info...answer as many or as few of the questions as you want.....just looking for some info. Thanks a lot. I sure wish that there were more of these races, instead of one per month....needs to be more like 1 per 2 weeks.

bradracer,
The next race is at bluff creek on sunday June 13th. Brooks was the only saturday race that is scheduled all season, otherwise they are all on sundays. If you've been to the bluff creek park, that is where the race is, so you will know what to expect, but in XC racing, anything can be thrown at you. Just make sure you have a working tether cord. If it is your first time racing, enter the C class which races in the morning. At indianola, 150 machines showed up. There were 35 in C class, and 39 in B class. I couldn't make brooks, but bluff creek will be a blast! You are only allowed 1 race a day, and Just be aware, that it is a 2 hour race, and you may not have enough energy for that race, let alone a second one in the same day!!! Just make sure you have a hydration pack with you of some sort, or a water bottle in the pits, you will need a drink during the race!!! And if it's muddy at all, roll offs on your goggles, tear offs, or at least a spare set of goggles....otherwise you may be tossing your goggles aside just to see. Just show up, sign up and run. If you come sat. night and camp out, you can get a chance to walk the course the day before and find out just what kind of terrain you will be running!

Hey thanks pudl.....I am planning on making the race. I suppose I'll race in the C class. How much mud is there usually at these things?? Like is it deep mud? How much of the tracks are usually motocross(big jumps and stuff)? I have a working tether cord, so that isn't a problem. I don't have nerf bars though, I hope this will be fine. I have anther question.....How do these races work, I mean like how does class C run? Do they just run class c and then when 2 hrs is up they start the next class? What is the start like, is there a line up of everyone and then we all race or do you leave the gate individually? Thanks for all of the help pudl....hopefully we can meet!!! Does the website work for you?? I can get it to run.
ps.....how come they don't have more of these races? Like 1 per 2 weeks....that would be cool.

Like Pudl suggested, hydration pack and roll-offs. Go run one, they're a blast. Take things at your own pace (not everyone is a Bill Balance). Lot's of friendly, helpful people, a true blast of a time.
Hmmm, and you never know who might show up.

Bradracer,
There will be 3 races that day, an early morning at 9 for the little kiddies on 50's and 90's, a morning race at 10, and an afternoon race at 12:30. For the morning race, Utility class, C class, Womens class, and Junior class will all line up in 4 different rows. When the first flag drops, the first wave goes, so say C class goes first, then in 1 min they will drop the flag for the utility, then another min. goes by and the women leave, get it? You never know what kind of terrain will show it's head, there could be mud, dust, standing water, creek crossings, or perfect conditions. That's why if you really want to know what to prepare for, show up sat. afternoon and walk the course, otherwise take it easy during the first lap of the race so you get used to the course and the challenges it will present for the day. And always in XC racing with mudholes, the line you took last lap may be too deep to cross when you come through on 2nd lap! 70 quads can really rip up your line choice. Whenever you show up for the race, I will be on my blue yfz under my shade canopy, #16 yellow plates with lots of flames on the quad, stop in and introduce yourself!

pudl-
Thanks for all of the helpful info....that really helps me plan the day out and not be so nervous. I get pretty nervous until the flag drops, then I'm fine....I guess that is just the amature talking in me......well hopefully I can stop and see you...if not, I'm on a pred with #18 on it. Thanks again. Brad
