I just got off the phone with Yamaha customer service. I waited about 30 minutes just to talk with someone.

I asked if she could give any clarification on the performance of the Banshee vs. the Raptor since the Raptor is portrayed in the ads as being superior to all others, but that the same thing is not being reported in the magazines. She would only read the details and engine specs from a sheet, and said that Yamaha would not publish any data on horsepower.

She asked if I wanted to know when they would ship and of course I did. She said that the first shipment was scheduled for late September. Here's the kicker though. She said that on the first shipment, each dealer would get ONE Raptor and then depending on their allotment, more would follow later.

I hope she's wrong, but I bet she's not.

 

Sorry Bash but that wasnt much of a surprise to me....My dealer already told me that he would get ONE in September. ONE in October. And ONE in November (mine). With GREAT sadness I think we ALL have awhile to wait! =-(

 

And yah know the more I hear about all this the more NERVOUS I get seeing how im at the bottom of the line for this quad IF I will even get one at ALL! But my dealer told me that Yamaha PROMISED him 3 and thats all he's scheduled to get. So for now im going by his word. Hopefully Yamaha holds up to theirs!

Do you have a specific color ordered? The reason that I ask is because the lady from Yamaha said that they may not get the colors that they ordered. This could mean that if everyone has a deposit on a specific color, being the 3rd in line to put money down (I'm in the same position), might not mean that your color would be the 3rd one to arrive.

Man, this is turning out to be a mess. As you can tell, I'm not good at waiting.

 

Oh I hear you I hate waiting also! Well I told my dealer I would take whichever I could get sooner! He told me that ALL 3 of the ones he is scheduled to get is Blue/White. Since no one has backed out on them yet I doubt im going to move up! =-( So yeah Im getting a blue one. What about you?

 

My dealer asked for 2 blues, 2 black and whites.
One of each color was already taken by the time I put down money. I don't think anyone is backing out. The two ahead of me have put down $1,000 and $2,000 NON-REFUNDABLE! I've already got $3,100 put down on mine, so I don't see me backing out either. The bad thing is that with the wait we are looking ahead to, I could probably have turned that 3k into 3.5 or 4k.

Oh well, the only good thing I see coming out of the long wait is that I'll have it paid for before I ever receive it.

 

Yeah I hear you. By September I will have already put down 4,300 on the thing. *sigh* I can only hope someone cant come up with money or something else to happen so I can get bumped up!

 

Hmm, this makes me wonder if the dealers that say they are getting 3 really mean that they are getting 3 spread out across 3 months. That would be a bit deceptive if it were the case. Uh, it would suck too.

 

The dealer I ordered mine from told me he only had two coming...... not sure what colors... but I am first in line I really like the black/white better than the blue but..... if givin the choice great.. if not... MAN DON"T YOU JUST LOVE THAT BLUE!

I called my dealer yesterday, he said that he hadn't heard anything new.... still the end of the month, or first of sept... I really hope its not the end of sept..or later.

At this point I am not really paying the mags any attn. I guess my point is I really like the bike (even though my opinion is based on the mags... I know don't really make sense) I can say this if it didn't have reverse and the 400ex did I probably would have got one of those... I do alot of trail riding, and reverse is a huge plus in my book. I think that was the final selling point for me to run down and put a deposit down on one

That was the case with me too, The selling point for me was for a manufacturer to build a sophisticated sport ATV that has reverse!, where I ride, it is very tight and the reverse would be very handy. My dealer said that my Raptor will be in September sometime.
