30 hours on new quad/ 0.07 mm valve clearance
#1
I bought a 2004 DS 650 (standard viper red model, $5400 otd, not bad). This thing is a tank but I love it (I sat on a new YFZ 450 the other day and it felt like a big roller skate, the YZF is way too small for me).
Anyway, I have 30 hours on my new Bomb and I just checked the valve clearances while the engine was cold. 2 valves were in spec. (0.1mm to 0.15mm) but two of them (the ones one the cam sprocket side were 0.07mm (they were a little tight). I know once the motor warms up they will probably get a little tighter. Do you think it's a problem to leave them for another 30 hours? It's so easy to check them that I will probably look at them again real soon.
Anybody ever burn a valve on a stock motor when they left their valve clearance around 0.05 mm?
Thanks!
