I'm using VP 110 in my Raptor I've jetted it and it runs sweet but I have a strange color on 1/2 of the ground strap. The end of the ground strap that ends by the electrode is bright green then at the 1/2 way point it turns gray/Dark gray. The base circle is running a dark gray. I've heard that VP fuel when jetted perfect is light Gray. Does anyone know if this is true or am I lean?

That was the site that I got my info from. The inside of the plug looks like I would want it to but the ground strap has me a little confused. What do you guys think about the ground strap color?

 

I would not go by the strap color or at least wouldn't give it much of a factor.

 

Thanks, I know not to jet to the color of the ground strap. I was just a little surprised to see that color there but now that I think about it's probibly ok beings that may be the hottest part of the plug.

 

Bright green???? Wow! Do you have any pictures? I would like to see that. The only thing I can think of is the dye they dump in the gas. Is the VP your running green in color?
I switched to a different kind of race fuel, and now the color of the fuel is showing up the on the plug. Not to the extent that you are seeing, but it is there, if I look hard. Wonder if it may be the same deal?

 

How about anti-freeze? If you had a leaking head gasket, and antifreeze were leaking in would it remain green on the plug?

 

I'll try and get some pics tonight. I never had the green color when it was jetted a little richer so I know it's got to be the fuel.

 

From what I read a green color means lean? But then why would you have the grey color. It sounds like everything is OK. Tell me this. Does the metal the plug is made out of or plated with have a green/red tint if you hold it just right in the light? Some of my NGK plugs show yellow/green/red tint to the metal depending on what angle you look at it.
