Hey, i know this isn't related to atv's, but i recently purchased two of the 3 seater Honda 1200 turbo Jet skis, and let me say, they're sweet. They accelerate like crazy, and are definitly fun, but i have one question.

My dealer,as well as pre read information, said that the jet skis will reach a top speed of around 80mph, however, i've only been able to reach about 61mph. I've ridden them on smooth water, and i'm an average size person, 175lbs. Why aren't they reaching top speed, or am i expecting too much out of them???

A ski isnt going to be able to do 80. Stock anyway. You got lied to. But 61 is pretty good for a ski. The best ive seen was on my aunts, it did 65 and it had a Yamaha 4 Cylinder in it.

 

My father inlaw has a bombardier 2 seater with 130 hp. it is 950 cc 2 srtoke and we hit a top speed if 110 kh with it

 

IM not sure, but I think 110kh is about 65 or 66 miles per hour, something like that

 

ive read somewere(cant remember were but it wasnt at my dealer)that those turbo skis can do about 80.Think about it those things have 4cylender turbo' d motors(if were talking about the same one,cause i know honda makes a 4cylender turbo ski)then you would think about 80 seems right.

 

my friends 93 sea doo gts does bout 48 and his sea doo new vans triple edition w/o the charger does 58. its a three cylinder. the chargers burn up your motor faster and are prone to problems later down the road. i wouldnt ride the heck out of them all the time.

Break them in and try it again.

 

That dealer is blowing some serious smoke up your tailpipe saying it will do 80MPH. Some will accelerate much faster than others but your not going to find a stock PWC that will go over 65MPH out of the box on a radar gun. Most top out in the lower 60's. The on board speedos are not very accurate and can be off by as much as 10MPH.

Motorcycle/ATV/PWC salesman are just as bad as car salesman. They will tell you whatever they think you want to hear to get a sale.
