CHANGING A CV BOOT
#2
Well they are not that bad.No matter which one you replace the axle needs to come off.I assume you know how to get the knuckle (spindle) off. After that the axle will pop out of the diff with a swift tug. When you buy the boot kit it will come with the grease and bands that are needed.Just make sure you tell them inner or outer. To do the inner the outer still needs to come off. After you get the axle out you will see how the bands come apart. After taking the inner boot loose slide it back and there is a clip inside the larger part of the inner housing.A pick works good at getting this out.Once this is out there is a circlip holding the smaller bearing. That will need to come off and slide that bearing off.If you need the inner boot thats as far as you need to go if it's the outer then slide the boot off and remove the bands off the outer boot and slide it off the axle. The boot kit comes with new clips also. It's really not that bad.Hope this helps

I did this on my Kodiak 450 a couple months back. Only problem I had was I couldn't find the circlip on the inside of the ball joint assy. It's right inside the lip, you've gotta get most of the grease out to see it. It's not hard at all. If you have any more questions, just ask.

I did one on my Grizzly not long ago. Didn't mess with the knuckles and ball joints, I just took the lower a-arm off the frame and got the half shaft out that way. A lot easier to me.
