Default Is this a good deal? 500 H.O. Sportsman

I'm new to ATVing and I'm in the process of looking for an ATV. I found this ad in our local paper:

'01 POLARIS 500 H.O. Sportsman. Winch, plow, tool box, gun rack, extra set rims, turf tires. Clean. 1000 mi., $4350.

I haven't looked at it yet but if this is an ATV that's been taken care of, I'm assuming this would be a good deal? Can you switch between 2WD and 4WD on the Sportsman?

I will be mainly trailriding on hills, woods, open areas and doing yardwork as well as plowing snow and playing in snow and some mud, nothing serious though. I've looked at all the other major brands but can't decide. If this is a good deal, it's probably safe to say I should jump on it?

Thanks.

Yes you can select 2 or 4wd. I bought a new 2003 sportsman 500 ho in dec. 2003 and paid $5600. Do you want/need those accessories? My initial thought was the price is high but if you bought an atv and had to purchase those accessories separately then it seems ok.

I can use all of those accessories except for the gun rack because I'm not a hunter but I'm sure I could find some makeshift way to use it. I know the turf tires would make my wife happy by me not tearing up our grass. Kelly Blue Book says this quad is worth about $4500 so I figured with the accessories $4350 would be a steal. But as I said in my original post, I haven't looked at it yet so I don't know the condition of it. Thanks for the response. I'm waiting to hear back from the guy to go look at it.

Not a HUNTER????

Oh well, hey... you can use 'em to carry a shovel or something!

If it's in good shape I would think $4350 is pretty fair but if that's where he started he's likely programed taking a little less in the end.

I'm one of the few in South Dakota that isn't a hunter. You're right about the shovel. My wife has me digging enough holes and moving a lot of dirt so the gun holders would make a good shovel and/or rake holder. Thanks for your .02. I've found everyone here in the forums to be extremely helpful.
