Default Broke Down Raptor Engine... HELP PLZ

Well we have been breaking down the motor all night... Got the Head off (bad news) got the jug off (somewhat bad news) now we are to the case... How do you split it? We have all bolts and screws out of it but it just doesnt want to come apart on one side. So far we are thinking im going to need a New Cam and have misc head work and a new piston.... Errr. I also need some opinion here, My dad says Using aftermarket parts in the motor is bad (IE Pistons and Cams). He thinks we will have to break it down yearly and buy new pistons and cams for it everytime because its so bad on the engine. Is this true? The Combo im wanting to run is a 10.75:1 Piston (not sure what bore but i want pump gas) and a stage 2 hotcam piston. I mean should i add this while i have it broken down, Not only to improve performace but have an advantage over OEM parts? He Also says Running this combo will mess up because im running stock Carbs also... I need some EXPERT opinion on this. If this is confusing to you look below ...

Questions:

1)How do you split the case? Is there anything we need to take out before we attempt to split it any Further?
2)I need opinions on the effect of OEM cams and Pistons VS aftermarket. Would Aftermarket be better or just a money pit for the future?
3)Will running a 10.75:1 piston and a Hotcam Stage 2 mess up the stock carbs?
4)If i turn out running a Ross 10.75:1 Piston what bore should it be to where i can run Pump gas?
5)What other parts Should i look into if i DO run a Higher Comp piston and Bigger cam?

I want to say thanks to Big Scary and SixSixT for answering alot of my motor questions =)

Thanks for the help everyone, Im in no hurry to get info because we are through tonight! lol Feel free to add your .02 cents worth!
Travis

Oh I forgot to add the cause of all the trouble was loss of Oil Pressure. Stupid Oil pump ERRRR

1) We don't know how much of it you have apart. You need to take everything off the clutch side (clutch, gears, shifter shaft, speed sensor and shift segment.) Check out raptortanny.com
2) Hotcams and Ross piston are probably better than stock.
3) You should mod or have the stock carbs modded.
4) 102mm=686
5) A moly rod, SS valves and you'll need stiffer valve springs to use the stage 2 cam. A timing chain would be a good idea also.

If your looking to run pump gas on that motor by keeping the compression low, your Hot Cams require a 95 octane to run correctly. So you won't looking at pump gas. If you have it all apart you might as weel bore it over, i agree with sixsixt get the 686 kit, i made the mistake of not boring bigger when i did my engine work done. As far as longevity on aftermarket parts, it depends on how hard you run it, i think they are better than stock parts though.

Travis, If I were you and wanted more HP for the $. A 10:1 comp. piston Ross 686, Stage II cam and valve springs, Craycraft modded stock carbs. This is if you have a pipe and filter mods already if not your gonna need those also.

Aren't you the same guy who said AV Gas had freon in it???

Its true the cam you decide on could have some effect on the octane rating, the majority of it is decided from the compresion ratio of the piston. The low comp Ross piston (from Craycraft...just in case there is somebody else who carries them) with a stage 2 doesn't require 95 octane.

Default Tore apart my Raptor Engine tonight... HELP PLZ

Ok guys, Working all day on the motor and the verdict was right. Oil Pump went out and i had extensive heat damage. One more bad thing was the clutches.... We took them out of the clutch basket and they just fell apart.... Opps must be my shifting methods in a drag race lol. Does Bob carry all the parts sixsixt listed?

Thanks for all the help everyone
Travis

Bob can get anythimg you need for the raptor. Broken fibers on the clutch isn't uncommon especially the ones next to the cushion spring.
