Default Valve Clearance Valve Lash

I've got a mild 686 in the Wife's Raptor. Stage 1 Hotcam

Followed the cam mfgr. specs and seemed to lose power Clearances were a little tight before adjustment. . .

Hotcam suggests pretty large clearances. . . should I go with the stock specs (which are a little tighter?)

Also, the timing marks are an "H" then an "I" . . . is the "H" the warning mark (warning that the true timing mark is coming?) Yes, I did my adjustments on the correct stroke.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Oh, I had been doing the clearance checks with angled feeler gauges, then got some straight ones. . . WOW, they were much easier for this job.

The H mark is for ignition timing use the l for setting the valves.
I set them at .006" intake and .008" exh. on the stage 1. Make sure your at the top of the comp. stroke and not the exh. when you line up the marks.

I bend the feeler gauge about a 1/4" from the end at about a 30* angle. That's about the only way you can get a good feel on the exh. valves IMO.
