Default Wheel bearing torque ac400i

Hello,
i replaced both shafts on my 03 ac 400i and was wondering how tight to tighten down the wheel bearings. i went 20ftlbs backed it off and hand tightned to the nearest hole in the shaft but still felt a little loose. but the next hole felt to tight. which is the lesser of the evils?

For mine the spec is 75 to 85 ftlbs, I would assume yours is the same.

I agree with 1Wook. Especially since in the AC Service manual says 75 ft pounds (or 10.4 kg). It seems tight but it works.

Also just as a note, make sure you use new cotter pins and don't skimp and try to reuse the old ones. Even if they look good. One end can eventually snap off and tear the crap out of the bearings.

The nut is suppose to be torqued to preload the bearings, otherwise they wear really fast and the seals can leak if it's loose.
