Default 98 Scrambler Rear Gearcase Removal

I was wondering how to remove the rear gearcase to a 98 Scrambler.

Thanks

I believe that the gearcase in your would have the same set-up as mine. To take it out you need to take out all the obvious bolts. There is a bolt that wedges the gearcase against the frame that has to be loosened as well. After that it just takes some wiggling to get it to come out. I did this after my entire motor was out but i think you should be able to remove if with the motor in place but i'm not sure.

I still can't get it out. Where exactly is the bolt that wedges the gearcase against the frame so I can make sure I got it. It seems to be pivoting around the area of the swingarm (the left swingarm or the side that is opposite the throttle).

Thanks again.

You will need to loosen the swingarm bolts but shouldnt need to take it off. There is one bolt that goes all the way through the gearcase that needs to be taken out to give room to wiggle it out.I think it is one of the bottom ones.
