Todays Race Results: Stock Banshee Vs Stock 450r
#1
Well today my buddies and I went riding on a local farm and one of them just bought a new 450r. We lined 'em up and took off. He got the holeshot everytime and had about 2 lengths on me before I would get traction. I caught up to within a 1/2 length but could never pull him. We ran 4 times and he always beat me by 1/2 length. We then went to a closed down stretch of county road and ran. This time with traction he only got me by about 1 length on the holeshot and I acutually pulled ahead until about 4 th gear then he pulled me by about 1/2 length. We hit fifth and ran out of road and had to shut down he finished 1/2 length ahead of me. Arghhhhh!
We then switched machines but didn't race anymore. Let me tell you the 450r feels like a motorcycle with 4 wheels. The handling is nothing less than awesome for a stock machine. Brakes are incredible to. The powerband is actually kind of peaky like a 2 stroke really fun to ride. Wheelies in 3rd gear are no problem on dirt.
Remember that both of these machines are bone stock right down to their tires and jets. The 450r rider was about 75lbs lighter than me. All in all the 450r is an excellent machine I can't wait to ride it after he gets an exhaust.
However I love my Shee and can't wait to get some pipes for it!

Hey thanks for the info.....I'm actually glad to hear someone telling us info about two machines, even if he loss, that will help in comparison. The 450r sounds like a good machine, I haven't rode one yet. I don't like the yfz, I would like to try the 450r though. I like my pred too, it works well for me anyways. Thanks for the info.....and the honesty.

It will surprise me if the 450R beats you after you get pipes and a filter. Unless you get some cheap pipes. If you get CPI's, Toomey's or something like that...you will be good to go.

Thanks for the positive replys guys. I also think after pipes on my Shee he'll be toast. Even if his is piped I think I'll still have him by a little (guess we'll have to find out)
I'm wanting the DMC 916 setup but I can't seem to find much power specs about it. I know the CPIs are the best way to go for all out power, however I really like the look and sound of the 916 however I've never ridden a Shee with it. ANyone know how they compare to Toomey T5s?
Also I'm going to take a look at the new ESR (the 250r people) Banshee pipes when they come out. Maybe good.

Honestly, you should have lost by more. When my banshee was piped only, I was beating a stock 450r by only a couple quad lengths at the end of a 300 ft. stretch. My banshee was running great also. You could get it on its grab bar in third on the street pretty easily sitting on the back of the seat. I will add that the guy on the stock 450r had atleast 30 pounds on me. Consider yourself lucky.

Duecerooster, i had the exact same feelings after i rode mine the first time, it made my banshee feel like a 300ex and my banshee runs great! flame me if you will. I couldnt believe the tremendous amount of power the 450r had out of the hole. I know the 450r is quicker than the banshee but on top end the banshee should take it. the 450r is very impressive.

Nice Post!
I got my YFZ about 3 months ago, and sadly, I have only ridden it on my 5 day vacation...Since then, it's been sitting in the garage begging to be ridden lol...Ive raced one banshee in the sand...it had toomeys and paddles, and I was stock. I beat him by about a little less than 1 quad length...I think the only reason i pulled him was because the race was up competition hill in Rocky Point, Mexico, and my low end beat him out of the holeshot...After that, it was pretty much even..My big gun exhaust should be here in a couple days...I bought paddles 2 days ago, and im gonn have it rejetted next weekend...I can't wait till the 4th!

Slim,
Yammi's come pretty choked up..Honda's already have decent stock piping on them, so once you pipe, there isn't a very dramatic difference...Yamahas with a pipe and a jet are COMPLETELY different bikes...Once you get a yamaha breathing easier, the change is huge..I think the banshee would pull a piped R if it had decent toomeys
