i got a few questions bout snowmobiles and im starting to get into em...
1.) are they all triples?
2.) how many of them are 2 strokes and whats the displacement?
3.) who makes the fastest one? who? size? type?
4.) what do they usually top out at?
5.) how much hp stock are they running?

YOU AN NORMALLY TELL BY LOOKING AT THE SIDE OF THE SLED IT WILL SAY 600 TWIN OR 700 TRIPLE, THEYRE ARE ALOT OF TWINS, AND SOME TRIPLES. THE MAJORITY OF SLEDS ARE 2-STROKES. ALOT OF THEM WILL TOP OUT JUST OVER 100MPH DEPENDING ON DISPLACEMENT. THE DISPLACEMENTS START OUT REAL SMALL FOR OLD LADY SLEDS AND THEN GO UP TO THE MENLY ONES 340, THEN TO 500, 600, 700, 800,900, 1000. MINE IS A 96 V-MAX 600XT AND IT WILL TOP OUT AT 100-110 DEPENDING HOW COLD IT IS OUT. THIS HAPPENS TO BE PLENTY ENOUGH SPEED FOR ME THOUGH. MY DAD HAS A 600 TRIPLE, THERE IS MORE TORQUE AND A LITLE BIT MORE TOP END. SLEDS ARE EASIER TO KEEP RUNNING UNLIKE A 2-STROKE QUAD, THEY DONT BLOW UP ALOT, UNLESS THE CARB FREEZES(HAPPENED LAST WINTER). THEYRE ISNT MIXING EITHER, THERE IS AN OIL RESERVOIR IN THE ENGINE COMOARTMENT THAT HOLDS THE OIL AND THEN THERE IS THE GAS TANK, WHEN YOU PRESS THE THROTTLE IN IT PULLS ON THE THROTTLE CABLE AND THE OIL CABLE, AND MIXES THEM BOTH. HOPE I COULD HELP, ASK IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE.......

 

stock most of the 500 are making around 90-100, 600's are making a little over 105-115, 700's in the upper 120-140, 800's making about 135-145. Not to sure about the zr 900, heard it ws making about 150, the new fusion the dealer told me about 160-170, not to sure about that one, hope it is up there thought because my dad snowchecked one, and i think the new mach z is making over 160 too. Fastest sled i have ever seen run was a stock xcr 800 made by polaris, however that i am sure is not the fastest sled, the F-7 by arctic cat is extremely fast due to weight to hp ratio, polaris edge-x 800 are also fast, and the zr 900. hope this helps

 

forgot to mention all those numbers i posted were of HP not MPH, also they are liquid cooled sleds, the fan cooled sleds are a little less hp.

 

The arctic cat 900 is 150 hp stock. Like most 2 strokes sleds respond well to pipes, my 900 with reeds and a single pipe has about 165-170 hp. I think the fastest last season was the F-7, but I don't know if it will be this season with the new ski-doo and polaris sleds. Also short track sleds should have the highest top speed due to less track to turn.

Yup 700 2 stroke, rx-1 is a 1000 cc 4 stroke both are 140 hp I do believe but the rx-1 is quite a bit heavier than the 2 stroke sleds

 

1.no,very high output twin are the trends those days
2.mainly most 2 strokes except for yamaha 2005 lineup with almost all 4 strokes,other 3 have only 1 4 strokes to offer til now.
3.i will not respond to that,but 800 triples are the fastest on top end and drag races no contest.
4.a stock polaris xcr 800 will top at around 118 mph on the gun radar.
5.a stock xcr 800 have 155-157 hp stock,mine is on race mods now.

a stock rx-1 will top at around 115 to 118-119 mph,a zr 900 wich is the biggest twin ever available now is a pretty wild beast too,but if you want wilder try a thundercat.now f7 is the thing to beat,a stock F6
600cc will run 112 mph,it's insane.

 

I have a 04 Mod F6 Sno Pro with the 1.375 in Lug track and It is the best Sled I have had my Top speed is 104-106 MPH
The F6 is the fastest 600 out and the F7 is the fastest 700 out and it is faster then the 800.
I have raced alot of 700&800 and won with my Little Mod F6
