snowmobile questions...
if you are gonna race in mx style then you will prolly wanna got with a 440 sled, you can make them fly like it weighed 5 lbs. those things are friggin light now. but if you want to just trail ride then go with the bogger motors, 600, 700,800. i like the rx-1's AND THEY SAY THEY ARE PRETTY FAST BUT MY FRIEND HAS ONE AND SAID IT HANDLES LIKE A BUICK, IT FEELS HUGE AND HEAVY WHEN YOUR ON IT.

If i have been informed right - Yamaha will soon be discontinuing production of 2-stroke snowmobiles in the near future. As for a good all-around sled the 600 twin 2-stroke is a great machine in any make (tho i am partial to arctic cat. I while back A-Cat made the thundercat 1000cc tripe two stroke and i believe if again informed right was the fastest production snowmobile until just recently. They have since disconitued that model, but honestly where are you going to use that much power. Right now if i where buying a new sled i would take a hard look that the A-Cat 660 Turbo 4stroke

Ive owned 7 polaris xc's thats where I get my screen name nickxc.
I really like polaris sleds I currently have an 02 xc 700 in red and an 04 xc 700 in blue and white both have pipes the 02 has lots of mods, pipe, silencer, v force reeds, cold air, 144 studs... up here in upstate NY where I live snowmobileing is life. the businesses thrive in the winter just as much as they do in the summer. I ride quads just to get me through the summer months so I can get back on my sled in december. We ride 300-500 miles in a weekend some times from town to town, bar to bar, It kicks ***. I'll never live anywhere where I cant ride a sled.

yeah, yamaha is getting rid of all of their two stroke sleds. it sucks, but yamaha hasnt really been keeping up tp par on their sleds as good as they have with their quads and bikes. their suspension on them surely isnt where it should be compared to other manufacturers. im still a yamaha fan and prolly always will be, but when it comes to sleds i dont think they have the top notch position there. especially since they stopped supporting sno-cross.....

1.no,very high output twin are the trends those days
2.mainly most 2 strokes except for yamaha 2005 lineup with almost all 4 strokes, other 3 have only 1 4 strokes to offer til now.
3.i will not respond to that, but 800 triples are the fastest on top end and drag races no contest.
4.a stock polaris xcr 800 will top at around 118 mph on the gun radar.
5.a stock xcr 800 have 155-157 hp stock, mine is on race mods now.
a stock rx-1 will top at around 115 to 118-119 mph,a zr 900 wich is the biggest twin ever available now is a pretty wild beast too,but if you want wilder try a thundercat.now f7 is the thing to beat,a stock F6
600cc will run 112 mph,it's insane.

1) Triples are out, twin cylinders is the way to go right now.
2) Most are two stroke, and go up to 1000cc. 4 stroke would be the RX-1 and T-600.
3) Fastest in a drag would be a F7, top speed probably a ZR900. Have yet to see a Fusion or the new Ski Doo 1000
4) They can go well over 100mph, if you tune one up pretty good you could hit 130mph. I have NEVER seen a XCR800 hit 118.
5) A F7 will have 140hp, ZR900 = 150hp, Polaris XC800 = 135hp, old Thundercat 1000 had 172hp
And Redline does NOT use Polaris engines.
