New chain ?

Got a new O-ring chain and I'll be putting it on next week. Do you soak O-ring chains in gear oil like we used to do with a non O-ring chain? I've got some Slick 50 gear oil (80/90w) left from my old truck I never used, would that be ok to use, or just regular gear oil? Thanks!

Don't soak it. It's ready to go out of the box. The pins are sealed, and they're already lubed up with lithium grease. Ride it for a while, then hit it with some chain lube that is for O ring chains. Keep it lubed, it will last a long time, unless you are installing it on old, worn out sprockets. If your old chain was worn out, so are your sprockets. You should change all three items at the same time.

what i did to soak it was i got a bucket and some chain lube from napa for an oring chain and put the chain flat on the bottom and sprayed it and sprayed it until it was sitting in enough lube to coat it and thats all i did then i lubed it after the first ride.

Thanks! I'm changing the sprockets too, keep looking out the window waiting for UPS. Thinking about leaving the plastic chain guard off. This is the second time broke off and wrapped around the front sprocket.
