GAS GAS 450 any experiences
#2
Ive raced a few when ive been down to mexico...I rarely see them other places....they seem like nice bikes....about 2 quads slower than the YFZ and 450R in accelaration...but it has a better top end...so after a while it starts to creep back and over take them both...ive never ridden one, so i wouldn't know about handling, or reliability or anything like that..

I have been working with GAS GAS for about one year now. I love the 450,we have done alot of mods to make it even better. The first year had some problems but the new ones are ready to go. I built a 500 kit for it that we are running now.

I can't say much about the motor, i have the 300 and the chassis is the same. i've had a few minor problems, but for the most part it's great. the biggest thing is that the shocks need to be re-sprung & valved. I had mine done by MX tech & they are smooth, but a little stiff in the small stuff. if the stock width is too wide, you can do a couple things- change to 4 + 1 wheels or change the arms out.... world class racing makes some & i've heard rumor that fab tech is making a set of T-pin arms. good luck

Thanks for the info.
Another question: I assume the the fuel injection system has to be mapped or can be remapped (I might be way off here). Is there any software to do this, is there any reason to remap the ECU?
The more I read the more likely I will buy one. I live in the Uk so I'm told I can make it street legal - I'll do this for the first month or so just to have some fun, then dump the street stuff and try some races.

whats the bolt pattern? to race mx would I have to buy the 48in model or can the 52in model be narrowed down? how long does it take to get parts?
I have asked these questions many times and never got any answers

mine's the 52" model... i've been able to pass tech with 4+1 wheels, barely (i had to dial in all my compression, lift the front end up & pray that i pass) i've thought about having a local A-arm builder set me up with arms that are 1/2" shorter on both sides, but most places i race at don't care about width.
the wheels are honda bolt pattern(4x110 rear, 4x144 front)
parts availability is ok, not anywhere as availble as a jap bike's parts, some parts they may have to order from spain (which takes a while- sometimes a couple months) but most of them they have at the distributors & lots of common ones will be at GG dealers. most of the motor parts & some of the rear suspension are the same between the bike models & quad models too.
brake pads are the same as a late model KTM front pads.
