Default 2 strokes are more powerful, and lighter than 4 strokes!!

It has been said, that 2 strokes are more powerful, than 4 strokes. That may be true(for now). Although some say they are lighter. I believe the "legendary" 250s were around 330 pounds. The 4 stroke 450s are 350 pounds. That means, for 200 more ccs the quad is only 20 pounds heavier. The raptor is 398 pounds, so for 410 ccs it is 70 pounds heavier. My conclusion to this thread is this: if there was a "racing" or "sport" or "mx" 4 stroke 250, I think it would weigh in at less than the legendary unstoppable 2 strokes.

I did not mean to bash any of the cry baby 2 strokers. I just want to see how you feel about this

Just kidding, I have two 2 strokes, and 1 four stroke.

Weight is no big deal. If for example the new 450R came with a titanium chassis, axle, swingarm, a-arms, bumper and handlebars and it weighed
270 lbs...that wouldnt be a big deal. Do that to a 2 stroke, and it will reclaim it's weight advantage.

There is no denying the fact that two strokes will be ligher simply because there are less parts, and what they do share, are usually smaller on
two strokes. That cannot be undone no matter what.

What is now aluminum on a four stroke, can be made aluminum on a two stroke quad, and it will still be lighter.

If they would put the half of the research and development money into a two stroke motor the possibilities would be endless. They are getting rid of the two stroke because it isn't very enviromentally friendly. I bet there is about 5-10 lbs. difference bettween the honda 250R engine and the CR500R engine and there is a huge hp increase. I would like to have high tech 500cc powervalve equipped two stroke engine on a new 450R chassis myself but it will never happen unless I do it myself. It would still weigh less than the new 450R and it would be 50cc bigger and a whole lot faster. I think when I go to sleep a little later I might just even dream about a quad like that. I don't want anyone to think I am knocking four strokes either, I just prefer a two stroke.

Really, I never new that before. If I could rip this post off of my computer, then I could
have something to wipe my a#!@%! with.

Any four stroke 250 would be left in the dust of a 250 two stroke. There is no "racing" or "sport" 250
four stroke because they are relatively PIGS to any 250 two stroke.

What was the point in posting if you already knew. I guess you just wanted to show us how SMART you are. Look everybody a genius.

Just get everybody here to send me 20 bucks and then I might have enough to build it. But I would probably just go on a month long vacation to cancun mexico so I guess everybody should just keep thier paper.

Of course they weigh less, they have no cam, valves, cam chain, oil pump, or the extra metal needed to cover and mount those things. Its the motors that weigh less, or can weigh less since they have far fewer parts. Of course they have more power, they go pop every time the piston comes up and they use their exhaust pipes like a turbo charger.
