100 lbs of weight advantage=

what effect does 100 lbs of added weight have on the performance of a quad in acceleration times?
for example: if 2 quads are same exact speeds, thow an extra 100 lbs on 1 of them and race....
what will the difference in times be? (3 secs)
difference in distance covered? ie. (3 quad length difference)
what about 20 lbs?

I weigh 250 and hit 73 on My Rap,My freind who weighs 140 could probably get quite a bit more MPH than me. Think about it if 100lbs is 1/10th of a second in the 1/4 for a Car. Imagine what that is for a 4 Wheeler.

Yes they say 10 lbs=1hp in a drag.
BUT... how heavy you are has no bearing on what the top speed of your quad is. If a 300lb rider and 150lb rider are on the exact same quad and are able to pull to the rev limiter, they will be going the EXACT same speed. Now the 150lb rider will GET there much faster, but in the end both would be going the same speed as long as the RPM's are the same by the time they are done.
Just to clarify.

Basically though, a 300 or 400 ft. drag, I've seen a 75lb. over me, on my bike rider be 3 or 4 lengths slower on the drags in sand, so it counts in there somewhere, it just comes down to building your bike for your weight, whatever it takes.
