Alumunum Cleaner?
#1
What can I use to clean the brown residue from the inside of my engine that has sat for a while open on the mag side? A brown material rust? gas residue? It will scrape off into a dust. Is their a way to clean this?

Go to an industrial supply house and get some of the pink A/C house condenser cleaner, or some of the alumi-brite pink acid cleaner for wheels. Mix it about 1/3 to 2/3 water and spray it on the motor. It will start to foam slightly and pull the dirt off the motor. Only leave it there for about 10-15 seconds then hose it off. if you need to respray it several more times until you get it clean. You can also use it on the strut towers, brake calipers, and any other porous aluminum on the bike. if you mix it too strong or leave it on too long it will turn the metal a darker color then you have to hand wash it to clean it up. It also works great on the aluinum raditaors for cleaning them up as well.Bubba

I use this stuff from Eagle One called Etching Mag Wheel Cleaner. Its like the coil cleaner that Bubba mentioned but it comes in a spray bottle and its only $4 or so. You can get it at Autozone or places like that. It works great on engine cases and anything aluminum. Its basically acid so don't leave it on for more than 10 minutes.
