Really had a blast this past weekend. I placed 3rd in my class (2 stroke 250-500) maybe, 10 bikes in it. It rained all day Sat. and they only let us run one practice pass on Sun. Plus the races were single eliminations. The track was sticky but soft and seemd to rob power. I started with purple primary, s58s and I didnt like it. It was all I cud do 2 get 7grand out of it. I went back to the truck and put the 55s in it, and it ran like a different bike. Ran a 14-34 gear all day. Next time I think I may try 14-32 with this setup or try some 56's with the 34. I just didnt have enough on top to stay with the shee. He got me by a quad length. Maybe wasnt shiftn out fully? As for the facility and promoters, They arent very quad friendly. No ETs were anounced. and the place is pretty run down. One guy booted to a different class on a 250 atc cause his "swingarm was too long". I did enjoy starting with a "tree" tho. Anyway, my cousin and I were the only Polaris 400s there, it was my first time competing and I placed 3rd. Hell Im happy. I got the fever now, and I will be goin back.

Good job whitedog, it's tough to run with heavily modded shee's on the top end. By purple primary I'm guess your talking the violet hpd primary?

purple with 58 weights is a setup to just spin the tires,14-34 gearing seem too fast for just 400 feet drag.the only way to known if the clutch
is fully operating is the play with gearing when you got choose your primary spring and stay with it then.

Whitedog what did the change from 58s to s55s actually do for you as far as top speed, out of the hole start or anything else you could tell me ? If you look at my sig you can see what I have done to the scrammy and I am running the 58s that came with my kit. I don't have the s55s but would it be worth me buying a set ?

Red/Yellow primary spring
Violet secondary spring set at 2-2
40/36 helix

Thanks fellas. My primary is actually "almond" hpd has replaced the purple with this. (4300 +/-) stall. I didnt like th s58s, even with the blue primary. The motor just wudnt get over 7k. And it was slow gettin that. I ran blue-w/ 55s for 3 or 4 months till bubba told me to get my stall up, with the purple (almond). I really like it! you crack the throttle- bam its there, 7300. But it tends to spin a LOT. and turn 8000+ But the track was thick and sticky. so it didnt present a problem. My secondary is violet, in 1&1. Cant remember helix# Its whatever hpd sends with the agressive race kits. I talked to Daryll at HPD and he said that the 1&1 setting may cause the belt to burn at lower rpms. He told me how to use a fishing scale to measure secondary preload. Evidentally you want 8-10 lbs for drags. Im gonna order a clutch tuning handbook. Gotta get on top of this clutching!

Here's the measurements I just took with my fish scale that has never been used on a fish! 2-2 16-17lbs
1-1 14.5lbs and 2-3 11-12lbs! Didn't do 2-1 but will probably be around 19lbs!
