i don't need top shelf boots. just want a solid boot that'll hold up to recreational riding. i'm looking at the Thor t30 and Oneil M900 and a Fox Tracker.

 

one more question.
i don't plan on doing a lot of walking (fingers x-ed!) so should i go w/ atv lug soles or mx?

 

I have a pair of Thor T-30 and they are extremely good boots. I have the ATV sole version, they are very comfortable you can walk anywhere inthem and they dont hurt your feet. Also the protect your feet very well too I have proved this lol) they are a very good all around boot, theres full shin protection too.

well if i was going really cheap, id get A.R.C. or O'Neil. i'm not spending $200+ for recreational riding boots

Any boots are better than none, yes! But After finally dishing out the $$ for good boots, I will never go cheap again. Cheap boots wear out fast and they always really hurt my feet. Sometimes it's worth an extra payment to put on the credit card for comfy footwear, especially for long trail rides. Gearne makes some great oiled leather boots that are extremely comfortable and are designed for recreational riding.

 

I have the T-30's in MX sole (Ordered ATV, But DennisKirksux.com is where I got 'em). These are really good boots. I have put them through he11 and they have held up. Not too comfy for walkin' but I don't do much of that anyways. Key word - inexpensive, not cheap. I keep telling the wife that, she still calls me cheap.

 

I have t-30 boots also they are a great boot good solid construction and dont wear as much as the O`Neil Element boots (cheapest put there). The t-30 are alittle stiff but just pour a little water on the sides and bend them. If you dont like them for x or y reason look for the MSR World Tour boot.
