raptor 686/690 against the honda crf450 dirt bike in the sand?
#1
Today i got a chance to race against a few crf 450 bikes in the sand in a 600 foot uphill race on my raptor 690 and although i was able to beat them most of the time in a couple of races they caught up to me although barely so i was wondering how some of you built raptors have done in this situation.I should add that the first 300 feet of the race was whooped out and very rough so they should have blown by me or at least i thought so but my 690 did better than i expected but so any experience against the crf450?

I put more than a 100 feet on the only one i have run in about a 500 foot race. I was running some piped/modded yfz 450's 2 weeks ago and they were no race either. I do like those yamaha 450's though. I would not mind having one in the garage. I see quite a few yamaha 450's and hardly any crf450's where i go.

The yfz 450 are very nice low profile fast machines, i'm sure with some (upcoming) motor mods the'll get faster....

14mins-Thanks for the input and i think i may have done a little better if i could launch harder.I have a 4"over swingarm which seemed to be enough with my old build but i may need more with this new 690.Some of the very fast yfz 450s must be big bores because when they are just piped and jetted they are not a problem for me but we have a few around here that are as fast as most of the drag banshees but of course if you ask them most of them wont admit what they have.I also raced the first 450 honda quad that impressed me but as fast as he was i am sure that he also was a bigger bore than stock. What length swingarm are some of you running with your built raptors?
