Default Changing tires on 400ex

Okay, my friend's 400ex tires were bald so he took the tires off of his 200sx and they are quite larger than 400ex stock tires. I think they are 22s I'm not sure. But anyways, he took me for a spin and man that 400ex was so fast with bigger tires. He did lose power, but he did gain top end and his bike (engine wise) is stock.

if he's goiong to run 22's he needs to drop down to a 14 tooth front sproket. it will pull alot better.

But then that would cancel out the effect of the higher gearing wouldn't it? Let's just say his 400ex is really fast now, it doesn't pull as hard as it used to, but it really goes fast. It's a lot harder to wheelie now though.

14 tooth with 22" tires is still faster than 15 tooth and 20" tires on the topend.

look for yourself here--> http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/400ex.htm

that is if the engine rev's the same, plus if the engine can overcome the resistance

also I would have to wonder how much more stress it puts on that stock clutch.
