GYT-R pipe smoked yfz rings
#1
My budy has had his yfz nearly a year, put a GYT-R pipe on it about 8 mos. ago. We were out riding one day and his packing blew out. By the time he got home, he had fried his rings from lack of back pressure. come to find out his silencer core had broken off allowing his packing to come out. Do you guys think this is a manufacterer defect and yamaha should be liable for some if not all of the damage?

I would think that, but seeing how the warranty on an ATV is only 6 months...good luck trying to get it fixed for free
and definately dont tell them you rode it home after it blew out.
maybe your dealer will take care of you...good luck

I have been readin about this pipe for a while now and all i have heard is that they are crap they will get blown and fried and falling apart more often than you fill up gas.Almost all GYT products are crap and these happens to almost everyone that has one. Im not sure if you can get a refund or something but its worth a try.

In the instructions it says to repack every 15/20 hours of ride time.
I also have the GYT-R on my 450 and have repacked it two times since I got it. The core has broken off from the mid pipe I have had to silicone the **** out of it to get it to stop leaking from the front cap. The pipe is crap and I'll never by GYT-R stuff again. I know two others that has/had the pipe and the same thing happened and is happing to theirs. I hope to be getting a different system soon.
Sorry to hear about your buddies bike.

He's got a sparks pipe now, but it's too little too late. Sure looks pretty sitting there.I'm half tempted to buy the piston and rings myself, just so she can be ridden. That bike is too sweet to just sit.
