Default Wut To Do Come Winter For Tires?

I am just wondering wut would be the best thing to do as far as tires for my 04' pred come winter?

Would it be a good idea to stud my razrs from this year? Would that help at all, i'm not planning on riding is super deep snow or nuthing.

If so where could i get some good studs/picks for my tires?

Any other ideas would be great too.

Studs are for hard ice not snow. For snow you need a ballon tire with paddles for floatation. 4snows ,prowedge and some sand tires are the only way to go for deep snow. Square hard tires with studs work for flatrack ice racing with no snow cover.

Well if your going down any type of blacktop or gravel you can rule out studs because they will be gone after a few miles. Maybe siping a stock tire would help out for some ice traction. Otherwise just leave the stockers on or use the truck or car . They are made for roads and they have heaters and radios. LOL

Best bet is to use a semi agressive tire and stud it with automotive studs. This will work extremely well in all conditions and shine on those ice patches. Notice I said automotive studs, these are not aggressive like ice studs and actually stay in place. In thousands of miles I have only lost a few. A good setup will have around 150 studs per tire. Many people in my area ride studs in summer and they actually double if not triple the life of the tire BUT they are a little slippery on rock and very hard surfaces. Here's a pic of my studded stockers. http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/...380&uid=944791
