Well, in my opinion I think the YFZ 450 is over priced, You can get any kind of ATV you want... Cheaper than a YFZ 450, 660 Rapter infact.

 

Cannondale and Gas Gas have some more expensive machines than the yfz 450 and raptor!

 

Thats why i went with the predator, you get more for less no brainier...

 

Yeah if you think the Yfz is overpriced you should go buy a cannondale / ATK !!!! then comeback and say that its overpriced again... i will admit that it is a bit expensive but you get what you pay for !! ( Performance , light weight , seat made of stone and lets not forget Speeeeed ) ...lol [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

atvs are cheap compared to snowmobiles and motorcycles. snowmobile range from 5-10 thousand dollars and in wisconsin you can only ride them 3 months out of the year. and motor cycle s are the same as an atv they just have 2 less wheels and a little bigger motor so they should be the same price as an atv, but they are 2 times as much if not 3 times as much as an atv. So most atvs are not over priced

 

don't base your decision solely on price. there are always other factors involved - handling being #1 for me imo.

 

Cannondale was releasing literally race ready quads back when the only four stroke quad availible for pro racing was the 400ex. The blaze and moto could be pushed out of the dealership and onto a pro race track. The components were all top notch like ohlin shocks, aluminum frame, itp tires, beadlock wheels, and more. It would have taken a lot more than the 12k dollar price tag on the moto to make a 400ex as strong, powerful, and as light as a moto. Not to mention the cdale had a factory warranty that they were excellent at upholding. Even now the yfz and trx are the only atvs under the 450cc race limit that can beat the introductory level cannibal, and they still cannot beat a well tuned but stock speed, blaze, or moto.

The yfz can command a premium because it is considered the top sport atv and the sales have been huge. Why charge less for a machine if the people are willing to pay more? Since the trx450 is the only atv in the same class that has similar attributes yamaha only has one other machine it has to compete with on price. Over priced or not, the yfz wont come down too much until something better comes along or the market becomes flooded with them.

 

I think you guys are confusing high priced with over priced. If the yfz came with nonadjustable shocks, no electic start,seriously detuned engine(450r) and weighed over 400 pounds then I would say it would be overpriced. Sure its still missing a bunch of parts to make it a "race ready" quad.
Now with all the goodies you get on the predator limited editions they are some of the best bang for the bucks.
