k&n filter on 400ex-is it a good mod-
#2
well with any high flow filter u really wont notice a difference unless u also put on an exhaust pipe. because if ur letting more air in and u still have the restrictive pipe not letting it all out then u havn't achieved anything. you may feel a little power but not as much as with a pipe also. you would also have to rejet it. i would say go for it. then in the future if you get a higher flowing exhaust pipe you would really feel more power. also i would go with a foam filter instead. from what i have heard from reading these forums everyday is the foam filters dont flow quite as much as the paper filters (k&n) but close to it and they are easier to maintain and most importainly they are more reliable. some say that k&n's let in more dirt (not saying its true but this is what i have heard). i run a uni (which is a foam) and it has searved me well.

They are a good filter depending on the conditions. If you read through some people prefer foam to K&N but it always is just a big debate with the results being 50/50. I have a whole K&N kit on ebay if you are interested with outerware (which I highly recomend) and the cleaner and oil. Pungohboy's ebay

i say NO. i wouldn't waste the money. others will disagree. i have tried K&N, uni, twin air, etc and i can't tell one difference in performance in drag racing. i don't do other racing but in drag racing it made no differnce. you may need to raise the jets 1 size with the K&N because of the extra flow but don't expect a gain.
