Default my buddy needs help

my buddy has an '03 TB400. he just bought the HSP speed kit. it is installed and he pissed....

its REAL fast once the engine revvs a little and the clutch kicks in.

but what hes pissed about is, there no throttle reponse. he used to do wheelies till the sun went down and now he has no bottom end power. cant even pop the front up alittle. we double checked everything and it should all be installed properly.

if this is normal, and this kit is really made for top end power, then the HSP website is misleading. it advertises a bottom to midrange power increase, giving you the HOLESHOT!!!!

well, theres no holeshot here.

any one else had this issue? is there something that can be done? or is that the nature of the kit?

our ride got rained out today, so were gonna be tinkering in the garage.

please lemme know,,,

the secondary doesnt sound like its in the 2-2 position. there is freeplay where the engine will rev but the clutches will not engage thats just normal u have to time the wheelies just right.

Sounds normal he will get use to it and will be able to wheelie easier and better once he gets the hang of it. Thats what mine was like to after I put all my mods on.

ScramblerX your friend should be able to wheelie very easy. From a stop he should be able to nail the throttle and stand it right up on the grag bar. Have him give HSP a call to make sure everything is setup right. Did he preload the secondary spring like the directions say.

I have the hsp kit on my '04. At first I did not preload the secondary spring and it wiped out my "ramp buttons" After replaceing them and installing the spring in the 2-2 position, also PRELOADING the spring. My 4x4 will stand straight up on take off. I would just double and triple check your install.

Did you install both shims at the exhaust flange? I ran mine for about a year with no shims, then tried the shims, and had to go way up in the jetting. From a 250 to a 310. Also when I added the shims the pilot circuit was too rich and it would bog on the low end, then take off like a rocket.
