i finally found my answer to twist vs thumb debates. i had a friend of mine check my lap times on the track. with the twist throttle it is (for me)faster in drag races but the mx track thumb is the way to go i seem to have better reaction times in the turns and more control in the whoop section. surprisingly there was about a 4 second difference (thumb being faster)incase your wondering i had been running a twist throttle for 6 months before i did this test so it's not because i was use to the thumb more.
just thought i'd share that with you all.

I have posted on this topic many times, I know some may still argue, but that goes with what I have always said (Keep in mind that I started my riding career on a dirtbike and currently own and ride an RM250)....

On a 3-wheeler or quad, a twist throttle substantially reduces throttle control. The body english and stance used while riding an ATV does not work well with a twist type throttle (ever wonder why a major manufacturer has never equipped an ATV with a twist throttle?), this is especially noticeable when encountering any terrain when at part throttle, also when wheelieing, jumping, or hill climbing. The only advantage a twist throttle would have would be when riding areas of continuous full throttle operation and little turning, eg. Drag racing.

The wierd thing for me is, when I'm on an ATV I can't stand a twist, but on my bike I love it.

I have had both and prefer the thumb throttle much more, the twist seemed dangeerous on hillclimbs and sharp curves. I am sure everyone has different opinions on them, use what you like best!

I still prefer a twist throttle. I have never had a problem with control in any of the situations you mention. It is a personal preference.
