Default GPS power on 350 Rancher

Hi folks,
Just want to be sure of this before i ruin my GPS!! I have a magellan gps 320. I want to plug it in to the power outlet on the Rancher...the cigarette lighter outlet. I am assuming this is ok, but i want to check to be sure. What do you think?..thanks a bunch.

If you can plug it into your car you can plug it into your bike. As for vibration - I don't try to use mine while riding the bike anyway. I only use it to find my way back to a place if I can't find my way - so I stop to do that. Heck - I can barely stay on the trail and look at the speedometer at the same time much less a GPS. But the GPS is great to map your trails and find your way back to the parking lot easily. A couple of weeks ago it came in real handy when I had a flat that was too large of a hole to fix - I had to ride it out and with the GPS I was able to take the most direct route verses taking one of 6 possible wrong turns on my way back.

I have always used duct tape to tape it to the top of the gas tank it has worked great for me never vibrates, just make sure to check the hold of the tape every once and a while, it has never broke on me but never hurts to check. very cheep too.

It doesn't get much cheaper then that If it works why not More money to spend on other parts

thanks guys...one more question...while the gps is plugged in, is there any power coming from the batteries in the gps?..in other words, even though the gps is plugged in, will the batteries still run down.

It should be powering completely off the external power source.

Depending on your gps unit and the batteries you use, the 12v outlet on the rancher could actually be charging the batteries.

assuming that the batteries are rechargeable?
so if i ride my bike for 10 hours with the gps plugged in...and then have to walk 3 hours, i don't have to worry about the batteries being drained?
