I was going through a stream with my 00 warrior and it was up to my headlights. I hit the middle and there was a lump, it threw me straight up and my quad stalled and then fell over, i rode it out and about 1 and 1/2 home then remembered about the airbox the water was up to the filter. My quad still starts and runs. How do I know if I got water in the engine? Thanks alot

 

drain your oil & see if you can see any water droplets in the container in which you drained it. Regardless of whether you see any signs of water, you'd be wise pull your spark plug and run two complete changes of kerosene thru the engine by turning the engine over with the starter one or two revolutions to remove any traces of water or moisture not visible to you in the oil.DO NOT START YOUR ENGINE WITH THE KEROSENE IN IT!! after draining the 2nd change of kerosene, refill your crankcase with the proper oil and pray that no water has remained in the bottom end.
Oh, One final suggestion: next time use a boat!

Just look and see if the oil is milky. You won't see any DROPS? of water, it will have mixed with the oil causing the milky color. If it is milky, drain it and put some deisel in the bike. remove the sparke plug and hold the start button for a few seconds. Drain then run 2 oil changes through it. Ride for a few hours and chang it again.

No other easier way than I have had experience with, so if you're comfortable with "most likely", I guess a visual check will suffice, or as I suggested and as the other individual recapped in his post, a more thorough procedure would be a better form of insurance against extensive damage later.
