transmission difference 87 to 88thru90 lt500r

Default transmission difference 87 to 88thru90 lt500r

anyone know how the transmissions were changed in the 87 model compared to the 88to90 models. I know they changed gearing but what are the differences anybody know???

they changed the # of teeth on the 4 gear and 5th gear .

i believe that the 87 is . but not 100% sure .

I would say it's a matter of preference... the '87 gearing (4th & 5th) is a little taller, thus a bigger spread b/w 3rd and 4th...
I prefer a closer ratio (88+), but that's just me...

As you say, it's a matter of preference, but I feel that since you go into 4th and 5th to go fast, the taller ratios are more desirable, because since they're taller, hence, a little more speed...

87 has a taller 4th and 5th than the later years...
