Default LT80 Final Drive

Hello everyone. I am new here and a new LT80 owner. I just purchased a 99 that was in a box. So I assume I will be pretty popular on here for awhile. I have been reading a lot of threads on here and all of you guys are very helpful. I am not able to find much on the countershaft and final drive. My question today is the countershaft hase a little in/out play to it, about a 32nd or so. Is this normal play or should it be tight? I have not opened up the gearbox (yet) and not sure if it has any common issues. I did find the cylinder was bored and has a 1 over piston. Both are scared pretty bad so I ordered a stock cylinder and piston to put back in. Not sure if that information was needed but there it is. Any other advice on this restoration would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The gearbox play is normal.
Hopefully you got OEM parts.

Sweet, that is great news! I really appreciate your response!
I bought a kit from a company out of Arizona, (not sure if I am allowed to drop names on here) which included a Wiesco piston and what I believe to be a custom cylinder to match. I have not installed yet though. Is there anything I should be weary of?

It's a china cylinder. They word it so ppl believe it's a wiseco kit. Run it and see how it goes.
Do a fairly long break in period.
It's ok to name drop. I know those ppl. I call them umm.. errr.. let's not go there. lmao

LOL, that does not sound good, I'm not a fan of Chinese made 😬. It looks like what I took of is Chinese! I was just reading a bunch of old threads on this topic, I wish I would've started here awhile ago. I may be able to return the kit and start over. If I do that do you have any bored out cylinders or do you think this would last my daughter's life time on it? We mostly ride the Oregon dunes so it is pretty hard riding and I would prefer do it once 😁.

I usually bore your cylinder. I use all Suzuki parts.
Ya never know, Some ppl report that they can be ok. The china piston is the worst part of it. Hopefully the wiseco would last.

So I returned the Chinese cylinder and Wiesco parts. I ordered everything from Suzuki. I just got the parts today and the cylinder does not appear to have any or much chamfer to it. Is this normal for OEM Suzuki cylinders? Do I need to file the edges down a little from your experience?

they usually have a ton of chamfer. If you think it needs more, indeed take a file and put more chamfer to it. It don't take much.
You have made a good decision imo. It'll run a good long time with oem.
