Do you mean that the top speed was better than all quads, or just the 400ex?

ATV SPORT AND DIRT WHEELS SAID IT IS THE FASTEST PRODUCTION QUAD ON THE MARKET, IT HAS ALSO BEEN SAID I BELIEVE BY DIRT WHEELS THAT IS IT HAS THE SAME WEIGHT RATIO AS A 400EX. PULLS WELL THRU ALL GEARS BUT 1ST IS A LITTLE LONG. I JUST PLACED A DEPOSIT ON MINE

I really hate to break it to you but nobody has tested a production unit yet. These are all pre-production prototypes that are being transported, maintained and tuned by Yamaha. You are going to have to wait for the real mc coy.

Goodpoint! Not trying to start a fight but a rumor I once heard was Honda used to send...hmmm, you know "special" bikes & quads for reviews. Maybe one with just a tad more "go" than the showroom model.

You are correct, I remember that also. How can you blame them? The purpose of letting people test the machine is to show how great it is. You would be out of your mind to think that that motor hasn't been blueprinted. I'm not saying modified, but you can bet somebody has prepped those bikes to the tiniest detail. Anybody who has ever been inside a production motor knows that there is power to be gained by just "cleaning up" casting flash. More true on a 2-stroke but my point is still valid.
