Hey all, I own a 96 300ex, but is there any difference between a trx300ex and a 300ex? I bought a new cobra exhaust system and it stated itd fit a 300ex, but the head pipe is not long enough to fit into the engine. The guy that owned it previously had a stock 400ex exhaust on it and it burned the plastic fenders so i got that cobra and the head pipe does not fit...Why??? Thanks

First off, ALL 300EX are TRX 300EX

Secondly, ALL exhaust systems for the 250X and 300EX will interchange, but NONE for the 400EX will swap to a 300EX. A 400EX exhaust uses a twin pipe header and the 300EX ofcourse only has one.

Is your Cobra system for a 300EX?? If you bought it new, check with the company you bought it from to check the part number on the box.

 

Well I bought it off ebay, and i emailed the guy and gave him the part number, and he said its the right one...but he also said hes never had any complaints on putting them on either...I dont know man

 

I bet it looked nice with that 400EX header on there.

I would say try your luck at getting rid of it, but if you can't, what doesn't fit, does it go around the frame rail at the front of the bike or cut across and go back before it. I have 2 pipes for my 300ex and both are different.

Hard to say never really had problems with installing one, unless it was bent bad or something, dunno
