Default Raptor power loss... I'm DESPERATE for help!

Hello everybody, I am new to the board and am desperate for answers.
First of all, I bought a 2001 raptor about 8 months ago, and was excited cause it was upgraded and I thought it would kick ***. But I have been struggling with it ever since I bought it and I'm getting to the point were I just wanna get rid of it.

Basically, my problem is that I have a major loss of power. The raptor is capable of light riding and stuff, but there is a major power loss somewhere. To start off, my buddy has a stock 01 raptor that can kick my *** anytime, and my raptor has way more upgrades than his.

Here is what mine came with, Yamaha GYT-R exhaust and headers, 160/165 Jet kit with 25 pilots, Gyt-r air filter, and other goodies like nerf bars, and stuff like that. Now, I have rip'd apart my quad down trying to find out whats going on with it.

The description of the problem is as follows:
If I open it up full throttle it sounds like its drowning or misfiring and just does not accelerate as fast as its suppose to... when I let go of the gas it starts backfiring like crazy... When my buddy and I try to race each other, I can't even catch up with him, he accelerates that much faster.
To give you an idea of how much power loss there is, I can't even pop a wheelie on my quad... I am desperate for help, and am willing to even pay for someone to fix it.

please help!

Check this out For some reason i think your problem may lie around your rev limiter.. even if thats not the problem it iwll make running in reverse alot easier and im guessin somewhere down the road ur rev limiter will go bad on ya anyways. Plus that meathod is cheap and easy

It runs like this all the time...

I always had a feeling that it never ran as fast as it's suppose to but I was riding a z400 before so this was faster...
It wasn't until I rode my friends stock raptor that I was blown away how much power it has, vs mine which has no power.

today as I was taking apart my raptor I noticed that the headers weren't installed properly... but they were still on pretty tight and I'm not sure if that could cause such a loss in power.

Me too.

Where do you live/ride? And what kind of air filter is on it?

By saying where do you live/ride, I am looking for what elevation. How many feet above sea level are you?

I think I have finaly decided what to do in life. I am going to start publishing a Yamaha Raptor spec. magazine titled just that..."<u>Jetting Issues</u>" Its going to be a psychological stress relief for Raptor owners. Each issue will have a fold out picture of a new Yamaha board member with bull's eye include.
