One frequent problem I see is the gear selector switch does not register the quad being in Forward - if the Neutral light is on, or the Reverse light is on, then the AWD light will not come on and will not allow AWD - try running AWD with the override button pushed in.

Make sure the AWD light bulb is not burned out.

If your problem is electrical with the gearshifter, don't buy anything . It is easy to re-wire so that it will work all the time, forward and reverse. I had the same problem and fixed mine in about 10 minutes. Look at your wiring diagram and bypass the rev limiter and gear selector switch.
