04 Predator won't stay running...
#1
Hey all, new to this forum.
My predator won't run when I give it gas. I changed the plug thinking it was fouled (and it was pretty black), but when I tried it after the change it did the same thing. It will start (w/choke out) and idle for about a minuet and then shut off. If it starts again (choke out) and I give it gas...cuts out. It WILL NOT start w/choke in. The bike has maybe 12 hours on it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Shawn

I just called the dealer and he said it sounded like clogged jets. I bought the quad from a guy about a month ago. He had only ridden it for 8 hrs. It did sit for a while, but I've ridden it 3 times since I've bought it. Unfortunatelly it's out of the 6 month warranty, so I have to pay to have it cleaned out
thanks for the help guys!

I'm personally not mechanically inclined, but I called a friend and he's going to charge $25.00. I would rather pay that than the 56/hour the dealer charges.
If I ecounter any problems I'll definatelly come and get some more advice.
Thanks again,
Shawn

a friends is gonna charge you to clean yor carb?!?!!? what kinda friends is that... its very easy.... there are 4 screws on the bottom of the carb... take them off... (they are a PITA though... you might wanna replace them with some allenheads) then take out the jets... (small rounds brass thingys...) then spray carb cleaner all over the place and puts the jets back in.
also check the play in your throttle... it could be your TPS.
